Mark Goddard’s Chesterton Flowers: A Suite for Strings Op. 66
includes: Hollyhocks, Deadly Nightshade, French Marigolds and Canterbury Bells.

This music was commissioned for a performance at a flower festival, held in the picturesque Oxfordshire village of Chesterton. The first performance was given in the thirteenth century parish church of St. Mary’s in June 1985. This arrangement for string orchestra was completed in November 1987 for a performance in Oxford.

Duration: approximately 10 minutes.

Available in a new edition, re-published in 2020 during the composer’s 60th year as part of Spartan’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The score and parts have been fully typeset to the highest standards and replace the old legacy edition of 1990.
